Candidate experience
"My name is Hannah Coull, I'm a I’ve worked as a Learning Support Assistant for children with SEN needs since September. I really enjoyed my role at the secondary school.
I’ve really enjoyed working at the school and have found it really rewarding. All the LSA staff are so so kind. We’ve recently had a new SENCO join the team and she’s really lovely too!
The role requires you to attend lessons with students who have an Educational Health Care Plan/ Special educational need requirements. We help students in all different subjects across the curriculum.
Every lesson is different, and I’m never with the same child continuously throughout the day. My role also involves having interventions, which is basically a one-to-one or group session to help the students with their Maths, English or social skills. At our school we also have a key worker role- which basically is a child with SEN, EHCP or in need of extra help that has an LSA to talk to whenever in need, to make contact with parents and to help them on their route to independence.
Since working at the school I have gained a place on a PGCE course and have recently started as a full time teacher at a school in Eastleigh"
